The Great Awakening

Violet, age 3
Enjoying a good book with a few gold fish.
A few weeks ago we went to the "Teach them Diligently Conference"  in South Carolina. We went to a talk by Mark Hamby (Founder of Lamplighter Publishing) called "The Great Awakening", he spoke about how T.V. and any other moving object on a screen can really damage a child's brain under the age of 8.  It can stunt their creativity and damage the development of their brain. If you only watched 1 movie a month that was 2 hours long for a year, you would have watched a whole days worth of movies by the years end!  T.V. also shortens a child's attention span. You really need to just listen to the talk for yourself, here. Ever since we came home from the conference we have given up on any sort of movies or T.V..  We have turned to all reading, after not watching movies for three weeks I see how much time they took away from our family. I now have so much time with my little siblings!
